Accessibility statement

The Shiny Card Hoard wants every customer to be able to use this website, whatever technology they browse with. This statement sets out what we have done, where we know we fall short, and how to reach us if something does not work for you.

What we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That is the standard most commonly referenced by US accessibility law, and it is the target this site was built and tested against.

What we have done

• The site comes in a light and a dark theme, and follows whichever one your device is set to. Change the appearance setting on your phone or computer and this site changes with it.
• Every text and background color pairing is programmatically checked against the WCAG AA contrast thresholds in both themes, and the build fails if any pairing drops below them.
• The whole site is operable by keyboard alone, with a visible high-contrast focus indicator on every interactive element.
• A skip link lets keyboard and screen reader users jump straight past the navigation to the main content.
• Pages use a single logical heading order, landmark regions, and descriptive link text rather than “click here”.
• Images carry meaningful alternative text; images that are purely decorative are hidden from assistive technology.
• Layouts reflow down to 320 pixels wide without horizontal scrolling, and interactive targets are at least 44×44 pixels.
• Animation and transitions are disabled automatically for anyone whose system asks for reduced motion.
• Automated accessibility tests run against every page at both mobile and desktop widths, in both themes, as part of development.

Where we fall short

Automated testing catches a meaningful share of accessibility problems but not all of them. We have not yet completed a full manual audit with screen reader users, and we will update this statement when we do. Some product photography comes from our suppliers and its alt text is generated from the product name rather than a description of the image.
